Still in 1834 a monument devoted to memory of 1131 Russian soldiers dead during Russian -Persian war was built in village Oshakan, Armavir region. The monument is in the list of state historic and cultural monuments of Armavir Region of the Republic of Armenia.

During March-April, 2011 on the initiative of Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and Vyacheslav Kovalenko, Ambassador of Russia in Armenia partial reconstruction of the monument was implemented.

The Ministry of Culture informs that now according to Memorandum signed between charity NGO “Hovhannes Imastaser Katoghicos Odznetsi” and the Ministry intended reconstruction works of the monument will be implemented completely.

According to the agreement the foundation has assumed financing of the works and specialists of the Ministry of Culture will provide arrangement and implementation works of reconstruction of the monument.
