Summer in Armenia

9 months, 272 days have passed and now it’s summer! Everybody likes summer, as this is the best time of our life. For most people, summer means finally getting out of warm clothes and enjoying three months of beautiful weather and getting ready for a summer holiday, for pupils it means entering universities and etc. Many flower gardens and fields look great in spring and early summer but begin to flag when summer heat hits and the sun beats down day in and day out.
It’s no accident that International Children Protection Day is celebrated on the first day of summer, June 1. The holiday has its origin in the “World Conference for the Well Being of Children”, in Geneva in 1925. After the conference, governments around the world designated a day as Children’s Day to draw attention to children’s issues. Many countries, including Armenia has been celebrating the day since 1996. Children are our future. And consequently, to have a better future, we must take care of them, and their prosperous childhood. Famous Persian public figure A. Phurutan has once said: “Children are like flowers, they require love care, attention and the right conditions into which to grow, and we must not abuse them but must show love and tenderness towards children and do it with utmost responsibility.” So, let’s make the saying become the leading part of our life, take care of children, give them our sincere love and attention.
