Lusin Amara (real name and surname- Taguhi Armaghanyan) studied at the Western Academy of Music, at the University of Southern California. In 1948 during she won 1st music award at the Los Angeles Music Competition. During 1940–49s she sang at the Armenian Church of San Francisco. In 1950 she entered Metropolitan opera of New York and further became one of the “stars”. She performed more than 60 role songs: Donna Elvira (Wolfgang Mozart “Don Juan”), Aida, Desdemona, (Giuseppe Verdi, “Aida”, “Othello”), Mimi, Tosca, Chio Chio San (Jerome Puccini “Bohme”, “Toska”, “Chio-Chio- San”), etc. She also preformed during concerts, sang soprano parts from “Ninth symphony” Ludwig Van Beethoven and “Requiem” Giuseppe Verdi. In her concert she also included Armenian songs: Komitas “Krunk”, “Le, Le Yamaman”, Romanos Melikyan’s “Vard”.
Amara performed in the best stages of the world and was highly appreciated in the international media. In 1965 and 1991 Amara performed in Yerevan role of Aida and solo concerts.
