This photo is clearly misidentified. The 2 girls are wearing native dress of Palestine (NOT Van or any other region of Armenia). The girl on the left is wearing an arabic aba, while the girl on the right is dressed in the traditional embroidered dress of the Jerusalem Palestinians. This misidentification is a common problem, particularly with photographs. The 2 girls put on “native dress’ for the photographer, meaning any local exotic dress, not specifically Armenian. Once incorrectly attributed as Armenian, the misinformation becomes accepted and spreads, muddying the issue for serious researchers. .
