Yerevan 5th International Music Festival introduced concerts of symphonic and chamber music, and many world-famous musicians invited from different countries took part in the festival and played the masterpieces of the giants of world classical music. Famous British conductor Christopher Warren Green, who was invited to direct the concluding concert of the festival, shared his impressions before the concert, “State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia is a diamond.
Every investment in this orchestra will come back 10 times more as SPOA trains such cadres that have great potential and deserve to become worldwide famous musicians. In this regard, State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia is a unique ambassador for Armenia in the world.” Before the last accords of the festival Eduard Topchyan, the artistic director and chief conductor of SPOA, highlighting the role of the festival in the sphere of the world classical music mentioned, “The 5th Yerevan International Music Festival by its idea was identical with the festivals of the previous years. It contributes to the cooperation between Armenian and world famous foreign musicians”. And to the question whether the Armenian composers are famous in the world or not, maestro answered, “We should not distinguish between nations as classical music does not know nationalities. The musical world knows names. In this respect, we surely have composers, such as Khachatryan, Terteryan and others, whose works are played in the world stages because their music is universal.” Summarizing the results of the festival we can testify that the main achievements
are master classes with young Armenian musicians led by world-famous soloists.
