From Yerevan: 120 km / 2 hours.
In the program of the winter tour to the city of masters of Gyumri we included a visit to the Kuznetsk workshop “Erankyuni”, which means “Triangle”. The master will show you the traditional method of metal processing and you will have the opportunity to try everything yourself.
Gyumri is one of the unique cities in Armenia and has its own original architecture, in the city center mainly preserving buildings built in the 19th century.
In the economic life of the population, for centuries, the main role was played by crafts, due to the strategic location of the city. In no other part of Armenia were traditional crafts as strong and conservative as in Gyumri. Today, blacksmithing is being revived in the city thanks to the tribal blacksmiths Martirosyans, Papoyans, Mnoyans and Gevorgyans.
One of the tribal blacksmiths, folk craftsman Gagik Martirosyan, who owns the Triangle complex, has created excellent conditions for an unforgettable vacation. In his works, the folk artist retained traditional technical and technological techniques and skills. Particularly commendable is the fact that, in developing and appreciating the craft traditions of his hometown and the need to pass them on to future generations, he created a training center where, in addition to blacksmithing, he teaches woodworking, pottery and art.
The name of the blacksmith workshop Yerankyuni, is taken from the film Triangle’, beloved by Armenian viewers, directed by Henrik Malyan, the main characters of which are 5 blacksmiths working at the Triangle Forge.
