Tonir Festival is held on the 11th of August in Tsaghkunk village of Gegharkunik region. It is notable, that the fest is organized on the first day of Navasard month according to the Armenian calendar, that is to say, on the day of New Year.

The feast lasts two days; a fire is burnt on Mount Aragats on the first night, which is transferred to Tsaghkunk village, where 8 traditional tonirs are burned with it. During the holiday Navasard games and exhibition-tasting of all the dishes, prepared in tonir are organized.

This event has the purpose of uniting the ideas of creativity and victory of Armenian nation, guiding the future generations in the exploring of the initial strength of our nation, having in minds the image of Commander Hayk, the forefather of all Armenians, as an example to follow.
