Azokh Cave (another, later name – Vorvan, Vorvan Cave) is located in the region of Hadrut, near the southern border of Artsakh. The area of this limestone cave is 8000 square meters. m, where there are eight intricate entrances to the caves, each 600 m in length.
During the Mongol-Tartar invasions, the wealth of Artsakh was often kept here. Stone tools dating back over 700,000 years have been discovered here. The area of the largest building is 3000 square meters. Various pottery items, processed stones, and thousands of animal bones were also found. It turned out that primitive people had a fairly varied diet. In the food remains, scientists found bones of animals that had long since become extinct.
In 2002, several more intact entrances were discovered, as well as various finds from the pre-human period, including tools and animal fossils on which traces of these tools were found. After analyzing the finds, the researchers came to the conclusion that man lived in the South Caucasus region about two million years ago.

Until now, of course, not all the secrets of the Azokh cave have been revealed. This prehistoric settlement, active for many millennia, is periodically explored and presents scientists with new surprises.
