We will drive through the city of Gyumri, cross the border and find ourselves in the Javakhk region of the historical principality of Gugark, now part of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia. On the way from the town of Akhalkalaki to Akhaltsikhe we will meet the Khertvisi fortress (founded in the 2nd century BC), which rises at the confluence of the Parvana and Kura rivers. They say that this was the favorite fortress of Queen Tamara (12-13th centuries). Continuing our journey we will reach the town of Akhaltsikhe, the capital of this region of Georgia.
