This most important transport artery has been connecting Russia and the countries of Transcaucasia for several centuries. 10:30 The first planned stop is at the majestic Ananuri fortress, dating back to the 13th century, one of the best-preserved castles on the banks of the Zhinvali reservoir. The architectural complex consisting of a church and towers previously served as the residence of the Aragvin princes. We still have two stops planned before our final destination. 12:30 The first one is near the village of Pasanauri - at the confluence of two mountain rivers. 13:30 The second is at the famous monument of Soviet times, the Arch of Friendship of Peoples, which is a panoramic observation deck that offers a picturesque view of the deep gorge of the Caucasus Range. 14:30 Lunch at a traditional Georgian restaurant Tsenereti before reaching Stepantsminda. 15:30 Next, in off-road vehicles from the city center, we will climb to the top of one of the mountains near the village, on which is located the famous monastery of the Gergeti Trinity Church, built in the 14th century at the foot of Mount Kazbek. In good weather, here you can enjoy the mesmerizing view of the famous second highest mountain in Georgia (5047 m.).
