Overview

Foundation date: 2008

From Yerevan: 132 km/ 2 hours 9 minutes.

In the village of Shatin there is the only observation point for bezoar goats in Armenia. From the point you can admire amazing views of the Shatin Mountains. On the mountains you can see paths left by goats. The observation post was built with financial support from the Ministries of Nature Protection of Armenia and Norway.

The post has all the necessary equipment, as well as rest rooms. On one side there is a valley, and on the other side of the gorge there are the rocky Shatin mountains. The animals are accustomed to the presence of people, so their natural behavior can be observed here. From here you can follow and see goats descending into the gorge to drink water.

About600 goats live in the Shatina Mountains. At the observation post, visitors can use binoculars to see the goats climbing the mountains. The best time to observe is either early in the morning or hours before sunset.

The observation post became the basis for the development of tourism in this region. Many tourists come here to observe the behavior of animals in natural conditions. Entrance to the observation post is paid and the entire amount received from entrance tickets goes to improve the territory. In2008, bed and breakfast guest houses were opened on the territory of the post so that visitors could spend the night on the territory while waiting for the animals to appear.
