The idea of opening a winery came from a man namedVaruzhan Muradyanwho returned after 20 years of living in the USA.

The village ofSasunikin the Aragatsotn region is located about 30 km from Yerevan. In 2006-2007, after studying the soil and climate, Varuzhan Muradyan chose a place for winemaking. The area has a southeast slope, which Varuzhan says is important for the grapes in terms of the angle at which the sun passes. The first seedlings were planted in 2008, and 5 years later they began producing wine.

Varuzhan from Van says that wine production developed in the kingdom of Van, in Urartu. This is where the name of the factory comes from“Van Ardi”which means “modern”.

Today they already have 6 types of wine: white, rose No. 4 red. Only low-quality dry wine is produced.

The vineyard is 9 hectares, but they intend to expand it in the near future, as the demand for wine has increased. There are 5 types of grapes: Areni, Kakhet, Pobeda, Kangun and French Syrah. 60% of wine is exported to EU countries: Sweden, France, England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the USA.

Van Ardin’s goal is to create a winemaking complex that will harmonize grape growing, wine tourism, old and new winemaking traditions in the fertile environment of Armenian lands and waters. How to create a wine culture that will become a way of life for generations.
