Built with the investment of the Eurnekian family, theKaras Wines Wineryand the vineyards of the plant are located in the village of Arevadasht in the Armavir region. The Armavir region is located on theArarat Valley. The soils at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level in this area and the climate provide ideal conditions for growing grapes.

The founders set a goal for Armenia to produce wines of the highest quality according to world standards. In this, local winemaking traditions played a decisive role, combining them with the skills and knowledge of the initiators. In 2003, innovation and tradition intertwined when the idea of creating the Karas White, Karas Red and Karas Reserve wines arose. The amazing collaboration between wine consultant Michael Roland and Argentine winemaker Mariano Vignoni, initiated in 2003, bore fruit in 2010 when the first commercial batch of wines was produced.

Karas” in Armenian is the name for huge clay vessels that have been used to store wine for thousands of years. The plant produces more than 11 different wines, such as GRAND KARAS, SYRAH, KARAS RESERVE,ARENI-KHNDOGHNI, SPARKLING WINE EXTRA BRUT, “DRY MUSCAT”etc.

Situated in the Ararat Valley, between the Aragats and Ararat mountains, Armavir is the smallest and sparsely populated region in western Armenia. Convenient location and favorable climatic conditions have contributed to the fact that this thriving region has become the epicenter of agricultural development.

Despite its important agricultural heritage, Armavir is also famous for its rich history and culture, which attracts both locals and tourists. Among the many interesting places, a special place is occupied by the Memorial complex of the Battle of Sardarapat, as well as the religious and spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church – the Etchmiadzin Cathedral.
