The park was founded in 1977. The territory of the forest park is 400.43 hectares. and has about 21 species of plants that are listed in the Red Book. Zoning and mapping work here began in 2007. According to these maps, the territory of the reserve is423 hectares. but some time later in the State. the cadastre was presented with new information, where the area was indicated as 400.43. The area that was not included in the territory of the reserve is located at the intersection of the villages of Garni and Yerevan.

Here you can see plants such as Armenian pine, juniper trees and shrubs.

In order to develop, expand the boundaries of the reserve territory and increase the number and types of plants, people involved in charity are currently interested in the forest park and with their help, the forest park not only preserves already known plant species, but also creates new types.

The forest park is a well-known place for organizing excursions for children of school age and for students of biological faculties.
