Foundation date: VII-XII centuries.
Status: Inactive monastery
Condition:Dilapidated
From Yerevan: 141 km / 2 hours 49 minutes

Khnevank Monastery is located in the Lori region, on the right bank of the Dzoraget River. The dilapidated complex included three churches, a parish, residential, utility and additional buildings. The main church (7th century) is a rectangular structure on the outside and a cross-domed structure on the inside.

According to the Georgian inscription on the dome, the church was restored in 1154 by the son of AmirspalasarIvane Orbelyan Smbat. Only parts of the columns from the parish in the western part have survived. The domed church with a semicircular altar on the south side is relatively well preserved (according to the Georgian inscription above the southern entrance, it was built in the 13th century).

Recently the main church was restored.
