Batumi is the second largest city in Georgia. It is considered the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

Located on the Black Sea coast, it has become one of the main tourist, economic and cultural centers of the country. Located in the Greater Caucasus Mountains, 3 meters above sea level. Population is 154,600 people

The Greek philosopher Aristotle was the first to mention the resort town in the 4th century BC. e. In the 1st century, the Roman writer and scholar Pliny the Elder named the area “Batus”, meaning “deep”.

In the Middle Ages, Batumi became known as Batom, and since 1878 in Batum. Currently, local residents call the city Batumi. The modern name was adopted in 1936.

Every year the flow of tourists here increases. Vacationers are attracted by the warm sea, architecture and national cuisine. People of different nationalities vacation here, including Georgians, Russians, Armenians and Ukrainians. This is a resort town with a well-developed infrastructure for tourists – many cafes, restaurants, hotels, not only budget ones, but also international hotel chains such as Sheraton and Radisson. There is also a water park with 5 swimming pools and various water attractions.

Here you can find many churches, Orthodox, Catholic Armenian. St. Astvatsatsin Monastery and St. Prkich Armenian Church. One of the architectural monuments is the Orta Jame Mosque (19th century). To the south are the ruins of Gonio Castle, where you can see the castle walls with a height of900 m with 18 towers

There are also museums in Batumi: Art of Adjara, Nobel, Stalin and Batumi Archaeological.
