Dvin is located 9 km northwest of Artashat. It, with its approximately thousand-year history, is one of the most significant and relatively well-studied cities ofArmenia, one of the12 capitalsof our country.

Man has settled on the territory of the city since ancient times. The capital Dvin was built during the reign of the Armenian kingKhosrow Kotak(330-338), in 335. The city became the new capital of Armenia under the leadership of the Arshakuni (royal dynasty). In a short period of time, the population of the capital reached 100 thousand. The city had two layers of protective walls, temples, and towers.

Today they practice gardening here; They grow grapes, apricots, peaches and apples. Vegetable crops are also processed: tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, as well as grains; Livestock and poultry farming are developed.
