State-owned natural-historical reserve

The State Historical Reserve Unota Gorge surprises all its visitors with its indescribable beauty. From the highest point ofJdrduzyou can see the walls of the gorge 250 m high. They are located above the Karkar River, in the southwest of the Shusha fortress. Travelers who prefer hiking in the gorge have the opportunity to see stunning waterfalls, dense forests, caves inhabited in the Stone Age, the ruins of the village of Hunot, ancient bridges… And all this is surrounded by huge mountains and a stream that rushes through the rocks to amaze guests.

More than a dozen ruined mills remain within the Unota Gorge State Historic Preserve, evidence of the once prosperous settlement of Unota.

Cave-spring – fresh water, which flows out of the cave, reaches the “Mossy Stone”, and flows into the stream, creates the impression of a natural “mossy umbrella”, which has become one of the picturesque places of the “Hunot Cave”.

TheAvana Karancave has served as a defensive shelter since time immemorial. Due to its inaccessible location, the cave served as a safe cover if necessary.

All roads leading to the sights of the Unot Gorge are marked on signs.
