There are no specific dress codes for everyday attire, especially in Yerevan and other major cities, where people have the freedom to dress as they like. However, certain restrictions apply when visiting churches and monasteries, where women are expected to wear clothing that covers their knees and a headscarf to cover their hair. During the coronavirus pandemic, there may be requirements to wear a mask in public transportation, some institutions, and public places due to quarantine restrictions.
Special dress code requirements may apply in specific venues and themed events, which your tour guide will inform you about in advance. Such places may include concert halls, theaters, museums, and official receptions, among others.
For participation in sightseeing tours, we recommend to wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun or cold weather, as Armenia’s mountainous terrain can lead to significant temperature variations during the day. Even in summer, it’s a good idea to have lightweight warm clothing with you.
If you are preparing for a hiking trip, the tour page will provide you with a list of necessary special equipment based on your chosen route in advance.
