David Abraham Gazazyan was born in 1910, in historical province of Sebastia, city Nikodemia (Izmit),\u00a0Constantinople where he spent his first years of childhood. In 1915 his family along with a number of Armenian families had to leave the state and be settled in Damascus. Gazazyan would later recollect the\u00a0hardest years in one of the works “Hafez Fakhuri”, published in the magazine “Literary Armenia”, 1976.
\nDavid Gazazyan had a strong passion for the Armenian literature and particularly dramaturgy when\u00a0he was a student in the State University of Yerevan. He was much concerned about the great Armenian\u00a0writer Khachatur Abovyan, as he had been working on his works and researching his life and literary activity. Soon he wrote the play “Khachatur Abovyan” which had an enormous impact on his literary activity. Moreover, in 1948 the play was put on the stage of “Young Spectators’ Theatre” within the framework of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Khachatur Abovyan’s death (disappearance). The play director H. Ghaplanyan and art director T. Shamirkhanyan along with other writers and literary\u00a0critics expressed their gratitude when questioned about the opinion on performance appraisal.
\nFurthermore, USSR Writers’ Union President A. Fadeev took great efforts for the performance to be\u00a0translated into Russian and in 1952 it was published in the collection “Soviet Armenian Dramaturgy”. This\u00a0meant to be the greatest peak in D. Gazazyan career as the play had a great success in many Armenian\u00a0stages in abroad. Besides being a writer-dramaturge D. Gazazyan was also an author of a number of\u00a0books: “Anahit’s Classroom”, “ABC book” as well as plays: “On the way to Heroism”, “Coaching Toward\u00a0Happiness” which depicted the life of a common villager and their routine for which he was awarded many prizes and medals. David Gazazyan passed away in 1968. This year we’re going to celebrate his 100th birthday anniversary and lots of events, literary meetings are going to be held with the participation of the famous literary critics and writers who will also share their opinion about the famous Armenian writer-dramaturge David Gazazyan.<\/p>\n
