On Yerevan-Parakar road there is one wine-vault, where is always cool, mysterious and very quiet. This attractive and hospitable cellar serves as a “shelter” for barrels of Maran Wine Factory, with its door ajar, narrow stairs and low light, welcoming any guests. Only 13 people work at the factory, which was officially opened in 1992. They are the Harutyunyans family – who are growing grapes and producing wine by the example of their forefathers, and 5 more people.
Any of Maran Factory winemakers would tell stories about wine with great enthusiasm – even in the most intense moments of work, also they will pour a glass of this drink for the guest and praise the power and usefulness of wine. The working place of the factory is quite small, but what is big – is possibilities of technologies and the potential of personnel. This is evidenced by the bronze medal the wine “Bagratuni” won at the world exhibition of wine “Decanter”, held in London. There is another medal – golden one, received in 2013 at the international exhibition of wine in Moscow. There are no limits for love, which the Harutyunyans feel for the wine and the art of making wine. And if you want to know about the ethymology of the word “Maran” and hear the memories of the director of the factory about vineyards Maranents, you should better listen to it in the cellar among the barrels of wine and universal harmony
