Uyts village is located in Syunik region, 2 km South-East of Sisian city. Before 1990 it was called Uz. The village has three-thousand-year-old history. It was popular with its megalithic castle-fortress and the cyclopean fortress. According to Morus Hastratyan, Uyts means «outside, separate». 98 families, 361 people live here. The inhabitants are mostly migrants from Uzumchi village of Persia. There are 2 churches in the territory; one of them is half-destroyed. 

The population is engaged in cattle breeding, as well as plant growing, food processing and vegetable cultivating. There is a secondary school, a house of culture, a library, permanent cinema, a kindergarten, a medical center, a veterinary here. There is also a mill in the village, a creamery used to be. 

In the same region you can also visit Goris, another city with an ancient history.
